Dewar's 15 Years Old was created to be a sweeter, lighter blended Scotch whisky, and it was the first whisky created by Stephanie Macleod.
Two things shape it, according to the house: a unique double ageing process and a golden water source. Together they make a whisky that is unusually smooth, with flavour notes of honey, toffee and floral character. Fifteen years is a genuine age statement, which is increasingly uncommon among blends at this level.
The rich honey notes in Dewar's come to life alongside the fruity and floral notes of St. Germain elderflower liqueur in a highball, which is the house's own serve and an easy one to copy at home. Neat or over a single large cube, it is an approachable step up for anyone moving beyond entry level blends, and it sits comfortably with roast pork, smoked cheese, or dried fruit and nuts after dinner.
