Terra Vega wines are born from a fusion of Chilean heritage and modern winemaking technology, cultivated from the best vineyard sites. This Gran Reserva Merlot earned 91 points from Alistair Cooper MW at Catad'Or, which is a serious result for a bottle at this level.
It pours deep red, with intense notes of ripe red fruit and spice: black plum, blueberry, cedar and black pepper. The palate is elegant and silky, with good volume, soft round tannins and a sweet, persistent finish. Ten months in French and American oak give it that polish without burying the fruit.
It pairs especially well with simply cooked steak, pork chops and roasted vegetables, and it will handle a Sunday roast or grilled lamb just as easily. ABV: 14.5%. Variety: 95% Merlot, 5% Shiraz. Origin: Colchagua Valley, Chile. A dependable house red with a medal to back it up.
