Paringa Estate is a family owned winery in Red Hill South on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, one of Australia's renowned cool climate regions, specialising in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Paringa is its premium single vineyard expression, produced from a tiny block of old Chardonnay vines in the home vineyard, with winemaking led by Lindsay McCall and Jamie McCall.
The 2022 comes from just nine rows of vines more than 30 years old, and the cool vintage produced particularly precise white peach and grapefruit characters. The wine underwent full malolactic fermentation and was matured in oak for approximately nine months.
Expect grapefruit, Meyer lemon, lemon zest, white flowers and flinty mineral notes, then white peach, nectarine and citrus on the palate with subtle nutty and oak characters. Bright, racy acidity carries a long, refined finish. At 13% ABV it pairs beautifully with grilled seafood, lobster, salmon, roast chicken, creamy pasta and soft cheeses.
