John Duval Eligo Shiraz 2016 750ml
98 Points - James Halliday - "The tannins and oak are built into this wine like a checkerboard table created by a master craftsman with decades of experience. Like John Duval."
94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Firm, bold and brilliant. You could call this an aristocratic red and get away with it. Blackberry and coal, blackcurrant even, redcurrant and then slips of coffee-cream, malt and sweet, dry spices. Truffle and game notes as whispers. Ropes of tannin, both integrated and commanding. A gorgeous red wine.
Nose: Lifted black plum, blackberry and blueberry with hints of earth, anise and spicy, savoury oak.
Palate: Elegant expression of rich dark fruits with some earthy savouriness and smoked meat flavours. Deep and intense with excellent fruit purity and freshness, finishing with a taut backbone and a long flowing tannin structure.
Origin: Barossa, South Australia
