Vintage: 2022
Origin: Barossa (Eden Valley and Barossa Valley), South Australia, Australia
Varietal: Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro, Viognier
Tasting Notes: The 2022 blends 72% Shiraz, 15% Grenache, 11% Mataro and 2% Viognier from Eden Valley and Barossa Valley vineyards. The Viognier is co-fermented with the Shiraz, and the wine spends 10 months in mostly seasoned French hogsheads. Deep garnet with violet tints, it shows ripe plum, raspberry and blueberry alongside cracked pepper, bay leaf and fresh herbs. The palate carries dark berry fruit, lively red-berry acidity and fine tannins, finishing on mulberry and black pepper. It is named for Henry Evans, who planted a seven-acre vineyard at Keyneton in 1853.
Pairings: veal roulade with mushrooms
