Den-En Aged Barley Shochu Kin (Gold) Label 900ml

Den-En Shuzo makes this Kin, or Gold, label as a honkaku shochu, distilled at atmospheric pressure using white koji. The base is barley, worked with both barley koji and rice koji, and the whole volume is then held in wooden barrels for more than three years.

That long barrel storage is what sets it apart from the everyday shochu shelf. It delivers a rich flavour and a mellow mouthfeel, with strong toasty notes of barley and cereal grain, and a body that is full for the category. Drinkers who like whisky often find this the easiest shochu to fall for, and it has been well rated at competitions abroad as well as at home.

Pour it on the rocks with a large cube, or long with cold or hot water in the traditional mizuwari and oyuwari styles. It handles grilled meat, yakitori and rich, savoury food with ease.
