D'Arenberg The Stump Jump Sauvignon Blanc 2023 750ml

The label has a story. It is rumoured that the inventor of the Stump Jump plough, which let a ploughshare jump over tree roots, had poor eyesight and needed regular tests to keep operating machinery. The design here is inspired by an optometrist's eyechart and doubles as a makeshift sobriety test: if you can hold the bottle at arm's length and still read the front label, you can have another glass.

Inside, the wine is serious enough. Vibrant aromas of melon and passion fruit signal how fresh it is, and the palate is a tropical swirl of melon and pineapple balanced by crisp citrus and cut grass. It carries the right amount of freshness without turning sharp.

Chill it well and drink it young, with oysters, kinilaw, green papaya salad, grilled fish or goat cheese. ABV: 13%. RS: 2.1 g/l. Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Origin: McLaren Vale, South Australia.
