Rieussec is one of the great names of Sauternes, and the 2015 has been received accordingly. James Suckling awarded it 98 points, calling it "a phenomenal wine with dried pineapple and pear aromas and flavors. Full, very sweet. Incredible depth and power. Super complex".
Robert Parker gave it 96 points for a blend of 86% Semillon and 14% Sauvignon Blanc, noting a bright, pale straw-gold colour, wonderful purity and depth, with lemon marmalade, orange blossom, beeswax and acacia honey, hints of preserved kumquats and peach compote, and a racy backbone cutting through earthy and citrus layers to a long, spicy finish.
Serve it well chilled in a small glass. It belongs with foie gras, blue cheese such as Roquefort, tarte tatin or simply on its own after a meal. From Sauternes, Bordeaux, and built to age for decades.
