Bardinet XO 6 Years 700ml

Bardinet has been making spirits in Blanquefort, near Bordeaux, since Paul Bardinet founded the house in 1857. This XO carries a six year age statement, matured in oak barrels, and is bottled at 40% ABV.

The nose leans sweet and decadent, with woody strikes, a hint of nuts and fruity grape notes underneath. The palate is harmonious rather than showy, with wood and dried fruit running through it, and it closes gentle and rounded.

This is a sensible house brandy: enough age and oak to reward slow sipping, enough restraint to disappear into a mixed drink without fighting it. Pour it neat in a small glass after a meal, drop it over a single large cube, or lengthen it with ginger ale and a slice of orange. It also sits comfortably beside dark chocolate, dried figs and salted nuts.
